The Shanghai Institute of Ceramics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (SICCAS)

Chinese Academy of Sciences Shanghai Institute of Silicates (referred to as Shanghai Institute of Silicates) originated from the Engineering Institute of the National Academia Sinica established in 1928, and was renamed the Institute of Metallurgical Ceramics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1953. In 1959, the institute was independently established and named the Institute of Silicate Chemistry and Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and in 1984 it was renamed the Shanghai Institute of Silicates of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. After more than 90 years of development, Shanghai Institute of Silicates has now become a scientific research institution for inorganic non-metallic materials integrating cutting-edge exploration of materials, high-tech innovation, and application development research, forming a "basic research - applied research - engineering and industrialization research". A relatively complete scientific research system that organically combines research.

There are 750 employees, including 634 professional and technical personnel, 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and 3 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (as of the end of 2022).

Scientific research institutions include State Key Laboratory of High Performance Ceramics and Ultrastructures, Key Laboratory of Special Inorganic Coatings of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Key Laboratory of Transparent Optical Functional Inorganic Materials of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Artificial Crystal Research Center and Transparent Ceramics Center), Chinese Academy of Sciences Key Laboratory of Inorganic Functional Materials and Devices (Information Functional Materials and Devices Research Center), Chinese Academy of Sciences Key Laboratory of Energy Conversion Materials (Shanghai Inorganic Energy Materials and Power Engineering Technology Research Center), Chinese Academy of Sciences Advanced Structural Ceramics and Key Laboratory of Ceramic Matrix Composites (Structural Ceramics and Composite Materials Engineering Research Center), Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Research Center, Ancient Ceramics and Industrial Ceramics Engineering Research Center (Key Research Base of the State Administration of Ancient Ceramics for Scientific Research, Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Ancient Ceramics Multivariate Information Extraction Technology and Applied Culture), pilot base and inorganic material analysis and testing center.

The subject direction is advanced inorganic materials science and engineering, and the main research fields cover high-performance structural ceramics, functional ceramics, transparent ceramics, ceramic matrix composites, intraocular crystals, inorganic coatings, energy materials, biomaterials, ancient ceramics and advanced inorganic materials. Performance detection and characterization, etc., is the most complete research institute among scientific research units in this field in China.

Hefei Facerom Thermal Equipment has a long-term and in-depth cooperative relationship with Shanghai Silicate Research Institute in the field of advanced ceramics.

Facerom was established in 2014, and the company is located in Hefei, one of the four major scientific and educational cities in China.
